Meal Resources & Support
Honoring Many Years of Community Around the Table
For many years, the Garden Terrace Meal Program was an important part of our community. What began as a way to provide residents with nutritious meals also became something much more — an opportunity to gather around the table, visit with neighbors, build friendships, and look out for one another.
As the needs of our residents and the resources available within the community changed, Garden Terrace made the difficult decision to conclude its on-site Meal Program in 2026.
While meals are no longer prepared and served by Garden Terrace, helping residents remain independent and connected to available resources continues to be important to us.
Meal Options for Residents
Today, seniors have access to more meal and grocery delivery choices than ever before. Depending upon individual needs, eligibility, preferences, and budget, options may include:
- Meals on Wheels and other community-based senior nutrition programs
- Mobile Meals and local meal delivery resources
- Prepared meal delivery services such as Mom's Meals and Factor
- Grocery delivery from local retailers, including Safeway and Walmart
- Grocery shopping and delivery services such as Instacart
- Other local senior nutrition, food assistance, and delivery programs
Our Service Coordinator can help residents explore available community resources and identify programs for which they may be eligible. Residents and families are also welcome to contact the Garden Terrace office for general information about available options.
Continuing the Spirit of Community
Although our traditional Meal Program has ended, gathering around the table remains an important part of life at Garden Terrace.
In 2026, Garden Terrace is introducing a new Community Hour — a monthly gathering where residents can come together with neighbors and staff to enjoy a simple, casual meal and, most importantly, one another's company.
Community Hour meals may include favorites such as chili and cornbread, a nacho bar, wings and salad, soups, seasonal dishes, and other fun and simple meals prepared by Garden Terrace staff.
Community Hour isn't intended to replace the former Meal Program. Instead, it carries forward one of the things we valued most about it: creating opportunities for residents to gather, laugh, visit, and build relationships with their neighbors.
Garden Terrace also continues to encourage connection through resident potlucks, social events, activities, celebrations, and informal gatherings throughout the year.
The way we gather may change over the years, but caring for our neighbors remains part of who we are.
Meal and grocery delivery services listed above are independent of Garden Terrace. Availability, eligibility, pricing, and services are determined by each individual provider.
